You can sell your jewelry to the
general public like friends and family, via newspaper
ads etc.
You can sell it back to the Jewelry
Industry. Within the Jewelry industry you have a few
options that I will discuss below. Miami Jewelry Buyers
Does my Jewelry need to be in good
condition?
No, your jewelry doesn’t need to be
fixed or polished. It can be even broken or missing
pieces.
Rings necklaces, earrings, bracelets,
brooches, or any other Jewelry have value for the
Diamonds, colored stones and the Gold.
Jewelry can be appraised, valued,
bought and sold. They don’t need to be un- mounted or in
good condition.
Some Jewelry is signed by prestigious
jewelry houses like Cartier, Harry Winston, Tiffany, Van
Cleef and Arpels, David Web and others and in such case
the value is higher.
How much will I get paid for my
Jewelry?
If you sell to the general Public you
should get around what you paid. Although if bought
before 2007 the price of gold was much less back then.
If you sell within the Jewelry and
Diamond Industry you will probably get about 30 to 40
percent of what you paid if you bought it retail, maybe
more if you find an experienced Jewelry Buyer that has
been years in the business.
Typically when you buy Jewelry from a
retail establishment, you pay more because there are
many people involved before the retail jeweler like
cutters, dealers, wholesalers, manufacturers etc. And
all of them need to make a profit.
How do I know how much my Jewelry
is worth?
If the Jewelry is just gold and a
pretty common style and isn’t signed by a recognized
Jewelry house it will be bought for its gold value. Gold
prices fluctuate daily and they are currently in an all
time high.
If the Jewelry is signed or has
Diamonds, Rubies, Sapphires or any other precious stones
then the best way to sell your Jewelry is to know the
current market value via an Appraisal.
To know the real value of what you
have you must take it to an Experienced Graduate
Gemologist, or G.G. graduated from the Gemological
Institute of America.
Make sure that you tell the appraiser
that you intend to sell the Jewelry. The appraisers have
different values when appraising like Liquidation value
and Replacement value.
What Jewelry is more valuable?
Fine Jewelry set with large Diamonds,
Rubies, Sapphires or Emeralds.
Jewelry that is signed by prestigious
Jewelry Houses like Cartier, Harry Winston, Tiffany, Van
Cleef and Arpels, David Web and others. Some rare and
Antique Pieces.
How do I sell my Gold Jewelry?
If the Jewelry is just Gold, 10k, 14k
or 18k you can sell it to a scrap Gold buyer, a pawn
shop, or a local Jeweler. In such case it is sold by
weight and you can call a few places and ask how much
they pay.
I don’t recommend mailing it out to
any of those honest looking but deceiving companies that
advertise as Gold buyers. They have a horrible track
record. You will probably be disappointed.
How do I sell my Fine Jewelry?
After having it properly appraised
take it to a reputable and experienced Graduate
Gemologist / Jewelry Buyer that has been years in the
business of buying and selling Jewelry.
Now that you are informed you should
be able to make the right decisions and you will be able
to negotiate with some basic knowledge, not emotions or
instincts.
